Refractive Laser Surgery

Refractive surgery might be a good option if you:

  • Want to reduce the use of glasses or contact lenses;
  • Do not have any eye disease;
  • Accept the inherent risks and potential side effects of the procedure;
  • Understand that you could still need glasses or contact lenses after the procedure to have best vision; and/or
  • Have an appropriate Refractive error.

There is no universally-accepted, best method for correcting refractive errors. The best option for you should be decided after a thorough examination and discussion with Dr Roelof. If you are considering refractive surgery, you and Dr Roelof have to discuss your lifestyle and vision needs to determine the most appropriate procedure for you.

 Pentacam screening

The pentacam screening has many advantages and is state of the art equipment in the modern age ophthalmology services. Most of these benefits are of technical nature and not of specific interest to the patient.

However, for our patients we want to highlight that the pentacam equipment allows for a quick screening of your eyes to detect eye abnormalities. Further to your interest, it offers pre-operation planning for implanting a corneal ring, which means that risks are lowered.

The most important advantage which this screening offers to you as our patient is that it allows you to see your eye from all sides while enabling Dr Roelof to easily explain any observed irregularities.
